A reflection on using the Name of Jesus by Mother Maria-Michael Newe, OSB.
I was reading the passage of Isaiah this morning where it says, “my ears will listen for your prayers; ad even before you ask me, I will say to you: Here I am.” (Is 58:9) What a gift! What a gift that we have been given God’s name to call upon—the name of Jesus. When you use the name of somebody you are able to direct what you want to say to a particular person, and that person knows exactly who you’re talking to. Even more if you call out a person’s name that person can’t very well just keep walking away from you (it’s rather rude if he would). In just the same way, we know that, Jesus, in all graciousness will never not be there when we call out to Him .
